As women over 50, we face unique health challenges. But you don't have to settle for less. A health coach can be an invaluable partner on your journey.

What do health coaches do?

Have you received general advice to eat healthier, exercise more, and get more sleep, but struggled to integrate these suggestions into your current lifestyle or make them last? Implementing lasting lifestyle changes can be difficult. Health coaches help bridge the gap between wanting to be healthy and actually achieving it. They collaborate with you to understand your current habits, define your goals, and develop a personalized plan to reach them. Health coaches don't dictate what you should do; they empower YOU to make sustainable changes. Ultimately, health coaching is about harnessing your inner strength and resources to achieve your own health and wellness objectives.

Health Coaches partner with you to:

  • Clarify your vision: What does optimal health look like for YOU?

  • Increase self-awareness: Understand your current habits and how they impact your vision. For example, how does your current sleep schedule affect your energy levels?

  • Set realistic goals: Break down big dreams into achievable steps. Instead of aiming to "drink more water," set a specific, measurable goal like "drink 6-8 glasses of water per day."

  • Develop action plans: Create a roadmap to success that utilizes your personal strengths.

    • Example: Goal: drink 6-8 glasses of water per day

      • Curiosity: Someone with the strength of curiosity thrives on exploration and novelty. They'll find ways to make water more enjoyable (infused water, flavored sparkling water) and learn about the importance of water for various bodily functions and how it impacts energy levels, mood, and cognitive function. This newfound knowledge can increase intrinsic motivation to drink more water.

      • Self-Regulation: Someone with the strength of self-regulation emphasizes discipline and adherence to a plan. They may set a daily water intake goal and consistently track progress using a water bottle with markings or a hydration app.

  • Provide ongoing support and accountability: Stay motivated and overcome challenges.

Why consider health coaching?

On the Path to Well-being
  • Personalized approach: Your journey is unique, and your plan will be too. We'll focus on strategies that "meet you where you're at" and support you to reach your health goals.

  • Holistic well-being: Address all aspects of your health, from nutrition to stress management and beyond.

  • Increased self-confidence: Accomplishing realistic goals can boost your confidence, empowering you to step outside your comfort zone and further your progress.

  • Living in alignment: By aligning your actions with your values, you'll experience a greater sense of purpose and motivation to achieve meaningful goals.

  • Improved quality of life: Experience more energy, reduced stress, and greater overall well-being.

What a Health Coach Does Not Do:

  • Diagnose or treat medical conditions: Health coaches cannot provide medical diagnoses or prescribe medications.

  • Create medical dietary plans: Health coaches do not provide specific meal plans or dietary restrictions unless directed by your medical provider.

However, health coaches can collaborate closely with your existing healthcare providers to ensure your coaching plan aligns with your overall health goals and any existing medical conditions.

Note: Some health coaches may have additional expertise, such as a background in nutrition or exercise training. These specialized skills can further enhance their ability to support your health journey within their scope of practice.

About This Coach

I am a Nurse Practitioner certified in Lifestyle Medicine, bringing a unique blend of clinical expertise and coaching skills to support your health journey. I completed the health coaching program at the Institute for Integrative Nutrition (IIN). I do not diagnose or prescribe in my role as a health coach, but my medical background and additional training in lifestyle medicine allows me to offer valuable insights and guidance in the prevention of many chronic diseases. Approximately 80% of chronic diseases are lifestyle related.

As women age, it's common to experience increased inflammation throughout the body. This can manifest in various ways, including joint discomfort, brain fog, trouble sleeping, fatigue, depression, anxiety, digestive issues, weight issues, and frequent infections. Inflammation is the driver for many chronic diseases, such as pre-diabetes, type 2 diabetes, elevated cholesterol and blood pressure, fatty liver, arthritis, and osteoporosis.

I focus on minimizing inflammation and reestablishing balance in the bodies of women over 50. I firmly believe that addressing the root causes of inflammation through lasting lifestyle changes can significantly improve your overall health and well-being. Ready to reclaim your vitality?

My Approach

I work with clients to:

What is your wellness vision?
  • Define your unique wellness vision: What does vibrant health look like for you?

  • Identify and leverage your strengths: Discover your natural talents and incorporate them into your wellness journey.

  • Set realistic and achievable goals: Create a roadmap for success that aligns with your values and aspirations.

  • Address the root causes of inflammation: Explore strategies for optimizing your diet, improving sleep quality, managing stress, and incorporating regular physical activity.

  • Empower you with the knowledge and tools to make sustainable lifestyle changes.

Why this approach works

By focusing on your values, strengths, and vision, I ensure that your health journey is not just about achieving goals, but about creating a life you truly love.

  • Vision Provides the Destination: Your wellness vision gives you a clear and inspiring destination. It provides context for your goals, helping you understand why you're taking these steps and how they contribute to the bigger picture.

  • Values Guide the Direction: Your values act as the internal compass, ensuring your chosen path aligns with what truly matters to you. If a potential goal or route conflicts with your values, it's likely not the right path.

  • Goals Pave the Way: Your goals are the concrete steps you take to navigate towards your wellness vision. They are the "road map" that breaks down the journey into manageable chunks, providing direction and motivation along the way.
